Cramer: Jazz Likely to Match Blazers' Offer to Millsap

Who cares right? It's Paul Millsap. He's been Carlos Boozer's backup ever since he got in the league and I'd be willing to bet that, if both were healthy, Millsap would never gain the upper hand over Boozer in the Jazz depth chart. However, this move by the Jazz has the potential to shake up the look of the NBA.

If the Jazz do in fact keep Millsap, it is highly probably they are close to trading Boozer. Teams being mentioned who are vying for Boozer's services are Miami, Chicago, and even my beloved Cavaliers (not really, but never say never). I'm not saying that Boozer would be a significant difference maker in the title chances of Miami or Chicago, but the moves that could follow Millsap's return to the Jazz could make a huge difference in deciding the '10 champs.

Portland would have failed to get Hedo and Millsap. At this point their only worthwhile options left on the free agent market would be David Lee and Lamar Odom. Age aside, I think one would have to go in the direction of Odom in that case.

If Odom were to sign with the Blazers, the Lakers' off-season would look terrible (Odom and Ariza for Artest) and Portland would be in a good spot to contend for a Western Conference Championship. I'd still take San Antonio, but the race would narrow significantly if the Lakers were to lose Odom. I would love to see all of this happen for the Cavs. They have already narrowed the gap with Orlando it appears, and the only teams that would really pose a threat to them at this point would be Boston and Los Angeles. Without Odom the Lakers look a lot less intimidating.

But as I said before, I will remain unbiased. My prediction is still that Odom returns to Los Angeles regardless of where Boozer and Millsap end up. It will be interesting to see what Portland does if they do in fact fail to sign Millsap.

I'll keep all my readers updated.

Peace World
