Klein: Nets Attempt to Trick Fans

Okay so it's pretty obvious that you don't want Nets season tickets. Let's say the replica jerseys of the best players on other teams were thrown in with the tickets, would that be something you might be interested in? The Armpit-of-America's basketball team is trying to find out if this marketing scheme will work.

The New Jersey Nets will hand out reversible jerseys at five of their home games for fans that purchase a 10-game package. On one side of the jersey it will be one of the league's superstars that is playing in that game. On the other side it will be a Nets player that no one really cares about.

There could very well be more LeBron James jerseys in the crowd when the Cavs visit the Nets this upcoming season. Wait...what?! Why would they have a promotion to make their fan base look like fools in front of a national audience? CHILD PLEASE (You'll get that if you watched Hard Knocks last night on HBO). Then again, maybe the fans will decide to sport the Eduardo Najera side when playing the Celtics...NAH.

This could be either the dumbest or smartest promotion of all time.

It could end up as the dumbest if the fans file into the stadium wearing the away team's side of the jersey and there is an Izod Arena full of Dwight Howards. It could also end up bad when the fans get their jerseys and they look like a knock-off found on Canal Street. Can you say D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R?

It could end up as the smartest if people just buy the 10-game package for the jerseys. Those are the people we like to call idiots.

Good luck to the Nets marketing team! Your team will still suck!
