Klein: MLB Quick Hits Of The Day

-Manny Ramirez launched a pinch-hit grand slam to push the Dodgers past the Reds on Wednesday night. It's just Manny being Manny.

-Red Sox added struggling 1B Adam LaRoche (.247-12 HR-40 RBI) from the Pirates for SS Argenis Diaz and P Hunter Strickland. This was a great move for the Pirates for two reasons. Firstly, they added two very solid prospects that will mature in their farm system. Secondly, LaRoche is a free agent after this present season. LaRoche will be in the lineup on days where Youkilis is playing 3B. Also, the Red Sox will be paying the remainder of his $2.95 million for '09.
WINNER: Pittsburgh Pirates

-The Sox stayed busy on hump day when they acquired OF Chris Duncan (.227-5 HR-32 RBI) from the Cardinals in exchange for SS Julio Lugo (.284-1 HR-8 RBI). This was a very solid trade for the Sox even though they traded for two hitters who are batting under .250 for the year. The only reason why it is solid is because Lugo doesn't play. Duncan has only 1 hit in the month of July so do not expect anything to pick up soon.
WINNER: Boston Red Sox

-Bobby Jenks (the fat guy with the pink goatee, seen right) will remain the White Sox closer "until he can't do it anymore," says White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen in regards to recent struggles (4 ER in 3 IP).
